Comparing damage per a second that would be 34 for the Mancatcher, versus 35 for the Giant Thresher. This does not take into account the difference in speed for applying Crushing Blow which favors the Mancatcher.Īt +20 IAS (from wearing Andariel’s Visage), the frame rates drop to 11 for both Jab and normal attacks using the Mancatcher, or 12 frames for both Jab and normal attack when using the Threshers. Compared to 2792 for normal, and 8010 for Jab using the Giant Thresher (the higher damage of the two Threshers).

For a lvl 98 act 2 Merc, assuming Ethereal weapons and a perfect roll on the Enhanced damage that would be 2666 damage per a second for the normal attack on the Mancatcher and 7695 damage for the Jab attack. 13 at 12 frames respectively compared to 14 and 13 frames for the Threshers. With zero IAS it is 1 frame rate faster than the Threshers for either normal or Jab attacks. However the Mancatcher is a -20 IAS base for the Act 2 Merc, which means it reaches faster frame rates at lower IAS levels. So they have the same breakpoints at the same IAS from gear, suggesting that the Great Thresher is simply better than a Thresher for a Merc, due to very slightly higher average damage (though it has a much higher strength requirement, so probably not worth it). It depends on how much IAS you have.īoth the Thresher and the Great Thresher are -10 IAS for the Act 2 Mercenary. I really hope people aren’t going to just say to use Teleport because after months of farming for an Infinity, it would easily be several more months before I could even afford an Enigma for teleport.Well that’s not necessarily true. Even when the merc gets in range, there is a delay before Conviction actually affects the mobs.Īm I using Infinity/Conviction completely wrong, or is there some trick I’m missing? If I run into the fray and use charged strike, the mobs are still Lightning Immune until my slow-mo merc decides to show up, and by that time, I could have just killed most of them using Jab like I was before anyway. My merc is an idiot and lags behind me by so much that I can’t really use thrown javelins from a distance because the mobs don’t have the conviction aura on them. Before Infinity, I went around jabbing lightning immune monsters to death, but using Infinity doesn’t really help me that much.

It all sounded so great in theory.Īnd then I felt how completely underwhelming it actually was. I built it, equipped it, and went to town killing stuff. After ridiculous amounts of farming and trading, I was finally able to get 2 BER runes and make my first Infinity ever for my lightning Javazon. So before D2R, I had never in my life seen a really high rune (Ber, Cham, Jah, Zod, etc) in all my years of playing D2.
